It began with the crabby invites designed and created by moi. Their arms move too for added effect. :)
A sand pail cake created by Greta's Grammy. Or how Greta likes to say "Dammy". It's hilarious. How awesome is this cake though?! It had 4 layers of chocolate and coconut and was delicious!!
I read online to use beach towels as table decorations, so that's what I did on the kitchen island.
Some rainbow goldfish and starfish shaped goldfish in my 25 cent starfish platter I found at a garage sale. :)
Party favors filled with a plastic sea toy, octopus gummies, jelly filled whales, swedish fish and seashells.
Outside, I hung balloons with a big giant seahorse. Greta squealed when she saw them. :)
A little crab and octopus were staked to lead our guests out back. Every time Greta would see that octopus, she'd say "LOOK! See? Oppapus!"
I had the sandbox filled with seashells for the kids to dig and find.
I had filled water balloons which the kids didn't understand too well how they worked. They ended up being used in a water balloon fight between Adam and his dad.
This is pretty much what G & B did the entire time.
Wilbur found his buddy, Aunt Pam.
I love this picture of Will's face because this is how he sucks on his lips if he wants his paci.
Eden and her best friend, the squirt bottle sunblock.
Our new friends the Hastees came: Jake, Meghann, Seth and James.
I love how mischievious Jake looks although I think he's reaching in a cup and not the cake. :)
Matt and Meghan W. were there.
And brought 2 month old baby Luke. The youngest of the bunch!
Greta got so many cool gifts from everyone. She had such a fun time at her party. When I was talking to her about it at the end of the night, she kept talking about her "take" and "tolors" (cake and color crayons) Her big gift from Adam and I and both sets of grandparents is a playset at the new house. We'll be signing papers on the house by the end of the week!

love it all. the crab invites came out soooo cute!~ And I can appreciate all of the hard work that was put into this bash!:) Don't worry, I noticed all of the little details. Such clever ideas...
I love the beach theme...what a great idea with the cake and towels, but the invites were the best! Super cute Nat!
awesome!!! the invites were so cool,i loved the digging for seashells, and the cake- oh the cake.
i saw this last night and then dreamed about us coming all the way to Charlotte to come swimming with you guys. in the middle of it i had to drive home and come all the way back. it was an exhausting dream :)
what a blast, can't believe she's two!
by the way- that Will is quite the looker.
I do believe I'll be down for the 3rd birthday party if Susan makes the cake again! AMAZING is all I can say to the effort from from you, little mother, with two small children to have pulled this beach party off. Greta looks so happy running around with her bathing suit on, chasing Bennett. I got a kick out of Adam and Scott's water balloon fight...hilarious! Love, Mom
