Here's a picture for the next REI catalog. :) As we pulled in at the base of the mountain to park, we realized that on that day, June 21st was summer solstice. It was a perfect day to hike and warm too! We saw the most interesting people going up and down the mountain: foreigners, families, teenagers with DVD players (have no idea why...), all different types of people who wanted to spend the longest day of the year up on top of flat top! These people had a pretty sweet idea spending the night up there with a rock barrier to prevent the wind from blowing their tent over. Apparently, everyone seemed to have a good time because they made the Anchorage Daily News the next day!
