Curtain Call

Ta da! Presenting my first real sewing project on a real live sewing machine! Right after I got married, my mom bought me a sturdy old Singer from Sally's, but I never knew how to run it. So a few weeks ago I finally (4 years later) ordered a manual online and attempted my first sewing project, a curtain. I brought my project into Charlotte with me last weekend under the watchful eye of Mom R. who answered every question I had while I sewed. I got the cute acorn fabric at an outlet shop down the street. There were two scraps of acorn fabric in the sale bin but in different colors. So I just cut them into strips, made an every other pattern of color and sewed them up together.
Now, some of you Picky Polly's (shout out to Bridge) might have noticed that yes, the width is indeed a little short since it should be covering the window casing and not in between. To this I say, I learned the 5/8 of an inch allowance rule when sewing and I'll make sure it doesn't happen again. Hey, the fabric for the curtain only cost me $2.50!

I love the fabric.. thought it was multicolored until you said stripes.. so now I see the stripes... cute!
Now you're off to making blankets and stuffed animal sleeping bags for your kids! :)

Nat, I would never leave a comment about the curtain width. I would only think it. But believe me, live and learn, just never, never look too closely at my green curtains! I love the acorn fabric!

First great job on curtains then who knows what could be next? I agree with Bridgette and say live and learn. I ripped out plenty of seams in my short sewing career. What about adding a solid color that you want to pop out that coordinates with the acorn fabric. You could add it to the top and bottom and it would look like you planned it. Mom
