Birch Trees with Blue Leaves

Here is my most recent painting project. Okay, so not this exact picture, but this is what I copied to put on Will's nursery wall. I'm doing an Alaskaney woodsy sort of theme and found these trees on wallwords.com. Well, they wanted 95.00 and I said nah, I'll just paint it myself.

I really mulled over whether I should even show you the actual website's photo since it looks a titch classier then mine, but you get the idea. I basically looked at the picture above, same size and all since it wouldn't enlarge, and sketched it as best as I could on the wall. Then, Ad and I had a little painting party painting the trees white and the next day I made them a little "birchier" by adding some off white paint on top of the bright white and painted some black eyes on them.

I added some blue leaves to tie in the bedding. Let the kid have some imagination I say. :)This is a picture of the bedding I bought off of Craigslist. It's just a stock photo since Greta is still using the crib. We'll put the crib right in between the two trees.

Oh my gosh...I love it!!! I was just thinking today that you must have Will's nursery almost finished and wondered what it looked like...perfect timing for the post! I love everything about it! Such a cozy place! Where did you get that fabric?

Turned out great! How come you didn't start the base of the tree at the baseboard though?

TALK ABOUT AMBITIOUS!!! This is NESTING at it's finest!! I'm very impressed! It's the perfect backdrop for behind the crib. "WILL" in white letters would be cute too in between the two trees.
