Katrina Relief Trip

Adam and I went on a mission trip down to Gulfport Mississippi. This is the place where we stayedThese are the people our church partnered with. Locals from the area recognize all the time the North Carolinians here to help and thanked us profusely for being there and helping. One volunteer team was told, "North Carolina is our only hope down here." Every home on the street had a FEMA trailer out front. Most all of them had porches built onto them and had the paper delivered to their trailers front door. It will be home for many of them for the next 6 months until they have to give the trailer back. In order to keep them currently, they must show improvements made on their home. This was our great team from Providence

North Carolina Baptist Men Association was able to take on 600 reconstruction of homes and 10 homes built from the ground up. Each reconstruction recieved $4,000 from NCBM and some homes had an average of about $10,000 in insurance money although many insurance companies found loopholes not to pay up.
This picture reminds me of this verse:
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy..."
Matthew 6:19

You guys are awesome doing what you did! We all need a reminder that we are not here for very long and, one day Jesus will take us home forever. You are investing in eternity!
