First pictures of destruction...ahem..construction I mean

Allow me to set the scene for you: Sunday night, Adam is working on completing the shower/bath installation in the master bath. I am one room over painting like I had been doing ALL WEEKEND LONG. We had the water turned off during this time of plumbing for Adam to work on it, but I had just turned the water mane back on (per his request) so he could test it to see if it works. Well, everything was going smoothly except when Adam starts yelling, "nat naT nAT NAT NAT NAT!!!!!" Adam bolts out of the bedroom so quickly I literally thought the house was going to blow up. He runs down the stairs and I am on his heels soon figuring out that it is in fact not an explosive in the house, but a water leak. He was tightening a pipe to hard and it broke off where he welded it. SO, Adam flings open the back porch door, takes one giant step onto our rotting wood porch, his foot breaks through a board and he falls on all fours with his foot sliced open. I, then have to run past him screaming, "LET ME LET ME" to run two condos down in the crawlspace to go turn off the water mane. I come back to find this. We'll just cover it with a welcome mat. :) Just kidding.Poor Adam. Look at that face! I had absolutely nothing to bandage his foot with so with my quick instinct and boy scout skills I doctored it up with Subway napkins and masking tape. It was a painful cut, but not in need of stitches. Those of you who are familiar with the Adman's feet....we knew those callouses would come in handy one day.
Down in the dining room was another surprise where the water leak exited from down the walls and out the ceiling. I think Adam in this picture is realizing the doom of our lovely chandelier as a waterfall trickle streamed through. (We were going to trash that chandelier anyway. Those of you who are disappointed about that, we'll sell it to you for a hundred bucks)

This is the stain that it left...

Now, you may think our story is done here. However, this is not the end. Monday night was also quite an adventure. The end of a 3 day weekend of which we were exausted and needing to get out of the house. We were thinking we'd shower up, go out to eat and take it easy for the last remaining hours of the weekend. Guess what... the other shower leaked. Another stream down the chandelier and our once small stain turned gigantic. Then the next day Adam has his boss come over to show him the damage and get his opinion. Rip out the old shower, put in a new one. We decided that is a great option.

Adam was showing him the hole he made in the back porch and wouldn't you know as he was standing out there, more wood was falling off. Our welcome mat will continue to grow to the size of 30 welcome mats. That is the story of our big ceiling stain and big hole in the back porch.

You guys are so much more adventurous than we are! Put me down to chip in for two welcome mats. Target has some cute ones. :)

It will all be worth it someday when you have a cute little toddler standing on the porch, playing with his/her toys, and you'll chuckle to yourself when you remember there was a big ole' hole there once upon a time.

The fun stories of new home buyers! We didn't have any water leaks...but I decided to clean out the refrig to make it all fresh for us, I tried using the kitchen sink and realized that the sink was not really bolted down or anything. I could move that sink all over the couter! I have never seen anything like it! We call it litle touches of love the house needed! So we bought a new sink and the installation is a whole other story!!! Keep on laughing with every "touch of love" you put into your house!
